We celebrated the opening of a brand-new health care facility in Fort Myers thanks to a phone call, a vision, and the support of our community.
After 27 years in a rented space, a donor with a vision for expanded health care services took the initiative to find a new home for our health center. The expanded health care center cemented our presence in the region, and your support gave us the opportunity to expand our health care mission and provide care for more patients.
Local contractors transformed the shell of the building into a state-of-the-art health center. On Jan, 16, 2020, individual donors, staff, and seven clergy from across southwest Florida joined in a blessing ceremony. The event was an opportunity for many to reflect and find inspiration from the culmination of this long-awaited expansion project.
On Jan. 27, 2020, the doors opened at the new 4,817 square foot facility in south Fort Myers. Since opening, almost 2,500 patients have received care.
Patients and staff have both benefited from the move. “I’m excited to be in this beautiful, new facility which allows us to better serve our patients in Fort Myers,” said Christina Rodriguez, Director of Patient Services and long-time Fort Myers health center manager. “When I think about all of the amazing work we did there, with the small amount of space we had to work with, it makes me proud of my team. We can accomplish even more now that we have more space in our updated health center."
Thanks to your support, the new Fort Myers health center is providing health care services including cancer screenings, well-person exams, birth control/IUDs, free condoms, pregnancy testing and ultrasounds, pregnancy options counseling, gender affirming hormone therapy, emergency contraception, miscarriage care, abortion care, HIV, UTI and STI testing and treatment, breast health and mammogram referrals, Gardasil (HPV vaccination), menopause care, and more.
Stephanie Fraim, President and CEO, is thrilled to see this dream realized. “We have been working for the past several years to be able to expand and modernize our health center,” she said. “We are really proud to be serving patients in Lee County and grateful to our donors and supporters who came together to make this possible.”
