"It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Kay Scott, our beloved former CEO and President of Planned Parenthood Southeast. Kay, who served with unwavering passion for women’s healthcare, was more than a leader—she was the embodiment of compassion, courage, and commitment.
I was brought into the Planned Parenthood family 20 years ago under Kay's leadership and remember her fondly as a kind and fearless leader. Her legacy is not only etched in the history of our organization but also in the countless lives she touched through her tireless advocacy for women’s rights, reproductive justice, and health equity. Women, birthing people, families, and countless others across the South are better because of Kay's impact and lasting legacy. Kay Scott's journey, from her early experiences in a women's health clinic in Texas and time at Planned Parenthood in Austin to her role in forming Planned Parenthood Southeast, speaks to her lifetime devoted to advancing reproductive rights and women's healthcare.
In her memory, we vow to continue the collective work she championed, ensuring that Planned Parenthood Southeast remains a beacon of support, compassion, and care for all. In this period of mourning, we extend our deepest condolences to her family and express gratitude for the permanent mark she left on our hearts and the legacy she leaves behind. May her legacy inspire us all to be better advocates for one another and uphold the importance of reproductive justice in the days to come."
