Standing With Migrant Families

It is the mission of Planned Parenthood South Texas to provide and protect the health care and information people need to plan their families and their futures. Related to that care and information, we recognize there are many factors that intersect with an individual’s family planning. Access to medical care alone is not enough. Too often, too many of our patients walk out of our clinics only to face a world where racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination frustrate their plans for themselves, their families and their futures. A broken immigration system and economic injustice exacerbate inequities. Voter suppression limits the ability of citizens to make their voices heard. And looming concerns about the ecological well-being of the planet create real fears about the world we will leave to our grandchildren.

While these concerns fall outside the scope of our clinical practice, Planned Parenthood South Texas will speak out in support of our clients and what they need to create a better life for themselves and their families—the families they have today and the families they hope to have in the future.

Today migrant families are being torn apart at the border as they seek to cross into this country. This practice is inhumane and unacceptable. Planned Parenthood is committed to being a voice in support of these families. We know how much families matter. We know families come first.

We encourage you to take a few minutes to call your Congressional representatives and urge them to put a stop to this abhorrent practice. You can do it at any time of the day, at your convenience. Representatives have staff answering phones during business hours and a message recorder the rest of the time.
