Have you have seen this video of HBO Girls actress Jemima Kirke bouncing around on your social media? If not, stop reading now and watch it!

On Girls, Jemima plays, Jessa, a free-spirited yet unstable 20-something trying to find her way.  But, in this video we see authentic Jemima: confident, intelligent, articulate, and honest. Simply, she rocks. Woven into her candid narrative, Jemima brings up an important topic.  Just because legal abortion is the law of the land doesn’t mean it’s easy to access for a number of reasons.  For Jemima one of her biggest challenges was affording the care she needed.

She joins other inspiring women who are sharing their abortion stories to reduce stigma and empower others. (Check out their stories here: Draw the Line, the 1 in 3 Campaign and The Abortion Diary Podcast.) Like Jemima, these women boldly talk about obtaining an abortion when it was the right decision for them as individuals.

At Planned Parenthood of South, East and North Florida we believe that everyone deserves high quality affordable health care, but we recognize that everyone’s definition of affordable is not the same.  There’s the cost of travel, cost of days off work, in addition to the cost of the abortion. So we’re trying to help out by offering financial assistance for those who qualify.  For more information go to:  Financial Assistance for Abortion. We also provide medical and/or surgical abortions in most of our 10 health centers making access to our services more convenient.

Thanks Jemima for sharing your story and being an incredible role model for your two girls!
