17 - Standing Strong Luncheon - Winston Salem, NC

We are hosting the first annual Standing Strong luncheon in Winston Salem. We will enjoy a delicious meal and a lively discussion with Rebecca Todd Peters, professor of Religious Studies at Elon University. Her work as a feminist social ethicist is focused on globalization, economic, environmental, and reproductive justice.

Our work is challenged every day, but we will never ever back down. Join us as we welcome award-winning journalist and legal commentator Dahlia Lithwick to Raleigh. Dahlia covers the Supreme Court and will share insights on reproductive justice in the court system.

24 - Donor Appreciation Reception - Charlotte, NC
We are hosting a Donor Appreciation Reception in Charlotte to thank our donors for their generous support of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic throughout the year. The reception will be held at the home of Jill Dinwiddie. We will serve heavy hors d'oeuvres and wine, and during our program, we will present the Sarah Bryant Award to an individual who best exemplifies the spirit, commitment, and dedication of Planned Parenthood’s mission.

25 - Reception to Welcome Wendy Davis - Roanoke, VA
Wednesday, April 25- Roanoke Spring Luncheon honoree Gretchen Weinnig Beedle is co-hosting a reception in her home with her spouse and two other couples the night before the luncheon. The reception will be a way for sponsors and attendees to hear additional comments from Wendy Davis and to have one-on-one conversations with her. All sponsors of the luncheon attend as PPSAT's guests, and others will pay $75 per couple or $50 per person to attend.

26 - Roanoke Spring Luncheon - Roanoke, VA 
Thrilled to welcome former TX Senator Wendy Davis. The Roanoke Spring Luncheon is currently sold out. We have raised over $70,000 of our $75,000 revenue goal. We are presenting the annual Spring Luncheon award to co-founder of the luncheon and past Board member Gretchen Weinnig Beedle and the Giraffe award - for a Community Partner that has stuck out its neck for Planned Parenthood - to Bella Magazine, Southwest and Central Virginia's regional magazine for women.

29 - Ride for Choice - Carrboro, NC
Fifth annual Bikes, Beers, and Bratwurst.  We're excited to add a third ride length this year, in addition to 24 and 54 miles, we now have a Metric Century.  Enjoy SAG support, rest stops, great volunteers, and experienced riders as you ride through the beautiful countryside. And the best part, a beer and bratwurst waiting for you at the end.

2 - Barbara W Moxon Advocacy Award Reception - Columbia, SC
We are excited to announce that our 2018 Barbara W. Moxon Advocacy award recipient is Representative Beth Bernstein. This award honors those who exemplify the Barbara W. Moxon legacy of advocating for women's health, social justice, equality, and education. 5:30-7:30 pm.

5 - End of Year Celebration - Charlottesville, VA

PPSAT supporters will gather to celebrate the graduation of Charlottesville youth from the Teen Connections program as well as the good work of the youth still in the program. We will hear remarks on the great work of our Education programs in the greater Charlottesville area and enjoy light refreshments.

10 - #nightout #fancyfun - Durham, NC
One of the Choice Affairs series of events, this dj dance party is guaranteed to get your booty shakin. Photobooth fun with cutouts of Ryan Gosling, Idris Elba, Wonder Woman, and Laverne Cox. Get the VIP treatment.

17 - Mandolin Orange - Hillsborough, NC 
Mandolin Orange will take a moment from their upward trajectory toward stardom to play an intimate concert exclusively for us. Local restaurant favorite Pancuito will provide the food, drinks from Haw River Wine Man and Mystery Brewing.  The equation adds up to a night to remember.


19 - ACLU & PP Prom - Charleston, WV

PPSAT and the ACLU of West Virginia are taking each other to an '80s Prom! The theme is Starry Nights and Human Rights, and there will be '80s music and decor and a costume contest, among other '80s revelry! Sponsorships start at $250 to celebrate these two essential partners in West Virginia, and general admission tickets are $45 with discount tickets at $30.

 

June

1 - Our spring fundraiser in Charlottesville will take place at IX Art Park, an emerging venue for art and progressive causes near downtown. Our headliner is Vibe Riot, a five-piece band playing everything from Motown to funk to reggae to rap, and whose music touches on themes of peace and progressive activism. More details to come on this fun evening in the next report.

9 - Progressive South - Raleigh, NC
Another Choice Affair event, this one is a repeat from last year. It was too much fun not to do it again.  One of the South's oldest neighborhoods hosts us for a distinctly southern progressive dinner.
