The Parental Notification Act was passed by the Colorado Legislature in 2003 and requires that teenage girls under the age of 18 notify a parent or guardian before obtaining an abortion. If a teen is unable to tell her parent or guardian, she must obtain a judicial bypass.

Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains is recruiting a cadre of volunteer lawyers to connect teens with much needed legal assistance for the judicial bypass process.

We are coordinating attorneys across Colorado who are interested in providing counsel to young women who have chosen the judicial bypass option. If you would like to participate in representing these young women, or you know of attorneys in rural communities who would like to participate, please contact us at 303.321.7526 and ask to speak with our Judicial Bypass Coordinator.
