Preparing for Your Birth Control Appointment

  • Please bring your photo ID and insurance card. If you are not using insurance, payment will be due at the time of service. Please let us know if you are concerned about how you will pay for your birth control. Funding may be available to help cover the cost of your care.

  • Implant insertion: If you have an appointment for an implant insertion and are not currently using hormonal birth control, we recommend you abstain from vaginal intercourse for 14 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, continue taking it normally.

  • IUD insertion: If you have an appointment for an IUD insertion and are not currently using hormonal birth control, abstain from vaginal intercourse for 14 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, continue taking it normally. We recommend you eat something and take 800mg of ibuprofen one hour prior to your appointment.

Skip the Appointment with PP Direct

If you live in Colorado, you may be eligible to get birth control without an appointment. Here’s how it works:

  1. Download the Planned Parenthood Direct app.

  2. Answer some questions about your health, then submit payment and shipping information.  A clinician will respond to you within one business day.

  3. If you are eligible to receive your birth control without an exam, it will be mailed to you within 4-7 business days.
