We’re abortion proud.

At Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV), we strive to ensure abortion is recognized as an essential health care service. It’s been over a month since the U.S. Supreme Court stripped away our federal constitutional right to abortion. While we allowed ourselves time to process and grieve this loss, we quickly turned our rage and disappointment into action.

I want to make it clear that abortion is safe and legal in California. We’re not going anywhere – our doors remain open. And we’re working to expand abortion access to make sure no one is turned away from receiving the care they need.

I’m Ashley Leonard, Director of Patient Programs at PPPSGV. My team works every day to remove barriers to care and support people seeking an abortion. As hateful abortion bans go into effect across our country, we’ve seen an increase in patients turning to PPPSGV for their vital abortion. Our incredible team has risen to this moment by advocating for our patients every step of the way. From scheduling appointments, providing travel support or navigating how to pay for a procedure – we’re coming up with creative solutions to meet the individual needs of our patients.

Everyone has their own unique reason for having an abortion, and we don’t want finances or anything else to get in the way of that decision. We’re proud to work with ACCESS REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE and other abortion funds to connect patients to key resources available. We know how important this work is, and when we’re greeted with a hug, tears of relief and joy, and words of appreciation from our patients – all the extra effort feels worth it.

We’re just getting started, and we know it’s a long road ahead in this fight. But we’re not backing down, and we will continue to advocate for safe and legal abortion access until it’s available to anyone who needs it.

Thank you for standing with us,

Ashley
