I am filled with gratitude to every person who showed up, honked their horns, and made their voices heard on Saturday, sending a clear message that we won't tolerate attacks on reproductive freedom. Thank you to the more than 700 cars that showed up for the Caravan For Choice rally for abortion justice this past weekend. Being among you all, immersed in a crowd of fellow supporters, was a truly cathartic and empowering experience

As an organization, Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) is committed to fighting for abortion access for ALL, locally and nationally. It’s a fight we can win if we continue to stand together.

For nearly 50 years, we’ve felt protected under Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that gave all people access to a safe, legal abortion. It has given people agency over their own bodies, their right to self-determination, and control over their reproductive lives. And now that monumental decision is in serious risk with the U.S. Supreme Court hearing a case this fall that if passed, would essentially ban an abortion after 15 weeks.

There is no doubt Roe v Wade is under attack like never before – we’re already seeing people lose access and other states are working to replicate Texas’ unconstitutional abortion ban. We can’t and won’t let down our guards when it comes to ensuring access to an abortion in this country.

The Caravan for Choice rally was a reminder of how strong our community is, and that we’re part of a larger movement nationally. I want to thank all our community partners who helped make this event possible: SMARTNAACP Pasadena BranchYWCA Glendale & PasadenaPOPNWPC-Pasadena and SGV ChaptersRadio JornaleraACLU- Pasadena/FoothillsPlan CBlack Women for WellnessIndivisible Alta-PasSwing Left-SGVActive SGVSGV LGBTQ CenterRooted in ResistancePeace Over ViolenceAll Saints Church, Day OneHood Liberation, and Glendora HS Women’s Wellness. Thank you to all our volunteers who carried puppets, helped with logistics, dressed up in costumes, cheered on the streets, and shared their stories. Thank you to our PPPSGV staff, who are so committed to fulfilling our mission each and every day that they showed up to the caravan on their day off.

Lastly, a big thanks to YOU - all our incredible supporters - who came out and showed that collectively our voice is strong. Saturday’s Caravan for Choice event was part of a larger movement and not just a one-day event. Our movement for abortion justice is stronger than ever and not over yet. We hope you will continue to join us and stand alongside us as this movement continues.

In solidarity,

Stef Lynch, Community Organizer
