Two years ago today, we were among one of the first Planned Parenthood affiliates to begin offering gender-affirming hormone care to the transgender community. Hormone therapy is one of the many ways transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people can transition medically, in addition to transitioning socially, legally, or some combination of the three; and some transgender people may choose not to transition at all. We began offering this service at Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley because we know that our patients, staff, supporters, and community members aren’t comprised of any one identity and we are a trusted community healthcare provider for all.
Nearly 500 patients have turned to us for gender-affirming hormone care since April 2019.
We are proud to provide our transgender community members a safe space to access care, especially in the face of the recent legislative attacks on trans rights that would allow medical providers to deny health care services to transgender patients. Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley is proud to do our part to ensure transgender and non-binary people can live full, healthy, authentic lives, free from discrimination and violence. Yesterday we celebrated International Transgender Day of Visibility by recommitting our organization to improving the way transgender people receive health care and sex education in our region. We are proud to work with the transgender community to eliminate barriers to care, and we are intentional about carrying out this work every day.
We see you. We care about you. We’re here with you—
no matter what.
We are grateful for our volunteers, staff, and supporters who work hard to ensure that our transgender community members have access to the health care, education, and information they need to live full, healthy lives.
