What Your Will Means To You

Besides providing for your loved ones, your will can be a tribute to the principles and values that you have lived.

Without a will, your estate will be distributed according to state laws, and unfortunately, these laws may differ from your preferences. Creating a will is the single most important step you can take to ensure that you final wishes will be carried out.

Having a will can bring peace of mind to you and certainty to your loved ones.

It may also be your most meaningful opportunity to establish a legacy for the organizations whose work is closest to your heart.

“Planned Parenthood is an intelligent organization with a unique mission. They do what they do very well, and I’m confident that the money would be used for only the most pressing needs and highest priorities.” – Member, Legacy Society

How To Include Planned Parenthood In Your Will

There are different ways to name Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley in your will. Your attorney may wish to use the following language.

A SPECIFIC BEQUEST. You can establish a bequest of a particular dollar amount or asset. The language for this type of provision is as follows:

“I give, bequeath, and devise (dollar amount or description of gift) to Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley or its successor, now or formerly in the City of Pasadena, 1045 N. Lake Avenue, in the state of California, to be used for its general purposes.”

A RESIDUARY BEQUEST. You can give all or part of the property remaining in your estate after debts, expenses, and specific bequests are paid. Such provisions can be made as follows:

“I give, bequeath, and devise (all, or __ percent of) the rest, residue, and remainder of the property, both real and personal, wherever situated, which I may own or be entitled to at my death, to Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley or its successor, now or formerly in the City of Pasadena, 1045 N. Lake Avenue, in the state of California, to be used for its general purposes.”
