Are Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) one and the same?
We are mutually supportive, but there are some key differences between PPPSGV and PPFA.
Planned Parenthood Pasadena & San Gabriel Valley (PPPSGV) is an affiliate or member of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) – one of 67 across the country. PPPSGV provides on-the-ground reproductive health care, health education and advocacy for local people across Pasadena and the San Gabriel Valley.
PPFA is a national organization and does not provide direct medical services in local communities, but serves as a resource for policymakers, media and health care providers. PPFA does set medical standards for all Planned Parenthood affiliates in the United States and, in so doing, ensures the high quality healthcare offered by its affiliates.
The local and national organizations conduct independent fundraising campaigns, but work to coordinate these efforts.
Are my gifts to PPPSGV tax deductible?
Yes. PPPSGV is a 501(c)(3) organization and your gifts are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Tax ID #95-1916050.
How will PPPSGV use my contributions?
Your donation to PPPSGV will serve as unrestricted funds to be used toward core operating support. As a heavily sought after provider of reproductive health care services in the San Gabriel Valley, Planned Parenthood Pasadena and San Gabriel Valley offers a comprehensive complement of services, of which 95% are preventive.
For 60% of our patients, Planned Parenthood is their only source of health care. Thanks to your support, patients can access life-saving cancer screenings, birth control, prevention and treatment of STDs, breast health services, Pap tests, sexual health education and more.
Proceeds will also be used toward health education, outreach and sex education to the community. We provide families the comprehensive, medically accurate and age-appropriate information they need to communicate about making healthy decisions.
Finally, we advocate to ensure safe access to reproductive health care, counseling and education by working with legislators and other organizations on the local, state, and national level.
