We recently doubled the size of our health center in Chula Vista to meet the growing demand for health care in this medically underserved region of San Diego County.

Planned Parenthood has been serving patients at this location on Broadway in the heart of Chula Vista for more than 30 years. Generations of people have come to rely on us for the sexual and reproductive health care they need and deserve including birth control, STD testing and treatment, life-saving cancer screenings, emergency contraceptives, and abortion.

Our team broke ground on the project in November and recently started welcoming patients into the newly expanded center. In the last year, our Chula Vista Health Center has served more than 15,000 patients. Now that our health center has expanded, we will be able to serve even more people from the South Bay region. We remodeled the center to maximize efficiency and create a welcoming environment for our patients.

“We gave a great deal of thought into everything from the hook for your purse on the back of the exam room door to the placement of each seat in the waiting room,” said Lori Keim, our senior director of business initiatives, who oversaw the expansion. “Each decision was made with the patient in mind.”

This health center was modeled after the two new health centers we recently opened in Vista and Imperial Valley.

“The remodel of our Chula Vista Health Center is part of a long-term strategy to expand access to health care in areas with great need with designs that maximize efficiency,” Keim said. “Our newly remodeled health centers send a clear message to our patients that they are welcome and they are being cared for by experts in modern facilities.”

Last year, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest served about 140,000 patients at our 18 health centers in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. We also provided education and information to more than 66,000 people in the communities we serve.
