As part of Planned Parenthood’s commitment to providing accurate, personalized sexual and reproductive health information to as many people as possible, no matter where they are, we’re excited to announce the launch of Roo: our new sexual health chatbot. Developed with and tested by teens, Roo is designed to get users personalized answers to their questions instantly — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Roo helps users get the right resources at the right time by answering their questions and directing them to a live educator from our Chat/Text program.

With Roo, patients will still get the same accurate, nonjudgmental information they’ve come to expect from the experts at Planned Parenthood -- with one-to-one answers in bite-sized pieces, complemented by gifs, videos, and a very friendly robot. Young people can ask Roo their burning questions about their health, their body, or getting care at Planned Parenthood, or choose from a list of questions and get the answers they need within seconds, day or night — no judgment, no secondhand embarrassment. In addition to answering common questions, Roo also helps users get the right resources at the right time by directing them to a live educator from the Chat/Text program, or helping connect them to the care they need at a Planned Parenthood health center.

Roo is currently available at Roo.PlannedParenthood.org and on PlannedParenthood.org’s teen-oriented web pages.
