There’s nothing funny about pay inequity for women, but Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks uses humor to raise some very serious issues in this hilarious video.

What if Christina Hendricks from Mad Men worked in a modern office? She’d be surprised to find out she can’t have a cigarette at her desk. She’d scratch her head, wondering what to do with her computer. Even the phones would look alien to her. The one thing she would recognize, however, is the inequality between men and women.

After her modern co-worker sneers at Hendricks fumbling her way around the office, the actress addresses her with wit and wisdom. “In the U.S., women make 23 percent less than their male counterparts. Did you know that almost 70 percent of the minimum wage workforce is female, but only 15 percent of our Fortune 500 CEOs are?” she says. “So I figure if we’re going to run our businesses like it’s the 1960s, I’m going to act like it.”

Planned Parenthood loves this video because we understand that women deserve equal pay for equal work. We’re all about empowering women with choices like pursuing their education and careers. We want women to take care of themselves, their health, their whole lives. Common sense and fairness tell us that this just isn’t going to happen without equal pay.
