We’re expanding the gynecological services we provide our patients.
With Medical Director Sierra Washington, MD, in the lead, we now have the skills and infrastructure to offer advanced treatment and management of more complex conditions. That includes gynecologic surgeries: hysterectomy, fibroid surgery, or pelvic floor surgery.
We currently refer at least 1,000 patients to other providers for advanced care. Expanding our services will help us better serve our patients and make their care more convenient.
This is also an important opportunity to reach out to our East African community: Many women in this community have been affected by female genital cutting. We can offer them the counseling, resources, and support they may not be able to find elsewhere. And we can handle their surgical correction.
We began rolling out our expanded gynecological services in March at our Kearny Mesa and Euclid health centers. In the coming months, we plan to offer even more health care services in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties to meet the needs of our patients.
