Planned Parenthood has been providing high-quality health care services to the people of Imperial Valley for more than a year at our beautiful, modern health center. The health care services and education we provide in this region are critical because there are not enough health care providers in Imperial County to meet the community’s needs, and the teen birth rate remains high.

Imperial Valley has the third highest rate of teen births in the state, according to the California Department of Public Health.

“Expanded access to health care in Imperial Valley is a major accomplishment, but this is just the beginning,” said Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest President and CEO Darrah DiGiorgio Johnson. “We are dedicated to reducing the rates of unintended pregnancies in this region in the years to come, and providing vital health care services to the people of this region for generations to come.”

Over the last year, Planned Parenthood has provided more than 2,200 people in the Imperial Valley with reproductive health care services. That includes birth control, STD testing and treatment, lifesaving cancer screenings, emergency contraceptives and abortions. People choose to come to Planned Parenthood because we have highly trained medical providers and a welcoming, state-of-the-art health center.

“The services and education we provide in Imperial Valley are making a big impact on people’s lives and our community,” said Vivian Perez, the Imperial Valley Health Center manager. “I look forward to seeing people live healthy lives, and seeing teen birth rates decrease in the future because of the work Planned Parenthood is doing today.”
