On October 17, 2016, Planned Parenthood celebrated its 100thanniversary in fine style. At our headquarters in Mission Valley, staff dressed in costume to represent each decade, reminding us all how far we’ve come. Our President and CEO, Darrah Johnson, gave a moving speech and helped cut countless pieces of delicious pill-pack cake. There was free-flowing Martinelli’s and good cheer for everyone.

In Palm Springs, over 300 people attended the Reel Women’s Movie Marathon and watched three diverse films about women while enjoying pink cupcakes. And in Imperial Valley, over 70 staff members and community partners came together to celebrate and watch Planned Parenthood’s Stories of Care videos.

There were more than 150 #100YearsStrong and 80 #ActStrong events nationally. Nearly 20,000 volunteers were engaged and more than 5,700 celebratory cakes and cupcakes were consumed. It was wonderful to see so many of us celebrating in solidarity!

Today, thanks to you, Planned Parenthood’s nearly 650 health centers serve 2.5 million women, men, and young people each year—and 60 million people visit Planned Parenthood online to look for the same kind of information Margaret Sanger handed out 100 years ago.

Thank you for all you do—and for helping to launch our second century, 100 years strong.
