Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, there’s been waves of actions and reactions. The obvious impact is the unjust abortion bans across the country, but there is a positive one as well. Through the anger and frustration about the Supreme Court ruling, we find community. A community of supporters who are utilizing their creativity and passion to create personal fundraisers and spread awareness for Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties (PPOSBC) and give their friends, family, and colleagues a chance to stand up and stand together in support of reproductive health care.

You too could join this fired up community of supporters by launching your own personal fundraiser. There are many different ways to garner support for PPOSBC, and our Developent team is here to help you get started. You can contact them at [email protected]. Until then, let the below personal fundraisers inspire your creativity.

Personal Fundraisers

The Breath of Fire Latina Theater Ensemble, found that community through the transformative power of theater. This local collective of artists chose to host a stage reading of “Have to Believe We are Magic” – a coming-of-age story about making big life decisions about in central Orange County in the summer of 1994. For one night, fans of the arts and champions of care were able to band together and experience an emotional and semi-biographical story highlighting the trials and tribulations of love, sex, and abortion. Ticket sales went directly to PPOSBC, and attendees had the opportunity to talk to the artists and hear about the integral care and support PPOSBC provides to the community.

For Taylor of Headache Arts, that support came through their accessories and bracelet designs. Taylor decided to give supporters an opportunity to showcase their commitment to reproductive health care by purchasing a Headache Art bracelet. Fun and unique, proceeds go directly to PPOSBC.

For others, they have chosen to host house parties and invite their friends and family over for a social evening of fun and entertainment in support of PPOSBC. From wine and cheese nights to holiday shindigs, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination. Check out this page for tips on how to create your own event.

Making an Impact

When you choose to support your local Planned Parenthood, you are directly funding patient care and ensuring that no one is turned away, regardless of their ability to pay. Every dollar raised, big or small, has an incredible impact. It is because of the support of the community that last fiscal year, PPOSBC was able to provide nearly $2.6 million in charitable care to patients.

There are so many incredible ways that you can bring your personal community together in support of reproductive health care. By finding a way to give that fits your passions and interests, you are doing more than supporting care. You are shouting that you stand with Planned Parenthood and are encouraging others to do the same.

Have an idea of your own and want to kickstart the new year by starting a personal fundraiser? Reach out to our Development team at [email protected] to get started.
