MORRISTOWN, NJ – Today, Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey launched the 2020 Virtual Teen Conference. Young people from across New Jersey can access the conference at https://www.teenconference.net/ to participate in engaging and interactive content focusing on teen health, leadership, empowerment, and access to community resources.

“All young people deserve to have information, resources, and skills to protect their health and build their futures,” said Triste Brooks, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey. “We are thrilled to be able to launch this virtual Teen Conference so that high schoolers from across the state can continue to connect with resources and learn about navigating relationships, protecting their health, and planning their futures.”

For the past 18 years, Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey’s Teen Conference has provided a dynamic and engaging day for New Jersey high school students through the promotion of teen health, leadership, empowerment, and access to community resources. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an in-person conference was not possible this year, and so the Teen Conference was adapted to its new digital form to ensure that students can still access the important resources, education, and information that they get each year at the Teen Conference.

The 2020 Virtual Teen Conference website features interactive digital workshops, keynotes, educational resources, links to community organizations, and more - all geared towards high school-aged young people from across the state. Students can learn how to make a self-care zine, become an advocate and tell your story of self, play Birth Control Bingo, and more!

The Teen Conference’s hashtag, #CreateChange, underscores the conference’s goal to inspire young people to make positive change in their community and the lives of others. Anyone can change the world to make it a better place, but it starts with you!

“Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, young people need accurate information and answers to their questions about sexual health, sex, and relationships,” said Ali Glaser, Vice President of Community Services. “We are especially proud of this virtual Teen Conference, because technology provides an innovative way to meet people where they are — no matter, what, where, or when —  which is especially important in these unique times.”

Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central, and Southern New Jersey is proud to have hosted the Teen Conference each year for nearly two decades. Planned Parenthood is a leading educator on reproductive and sexual health topics. We deliver comprehensive and medically accurate information that empowers people to make informed decisions and lead healthy lives.  Each year, PPNCSNJ provides sexual health information and education to more than 26,800 teens, parents, and community members.
