Volunteer advocates needed to help sexual assault victims, training begins in March

RESTORE Sexual Assault Services, a program of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, is recruiting volunteers for an upcoming training cycle in March. There is an urgent need for volunteers in Monroe, Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties.

Lawmakers and organizations react to new abortion law

One of the nation's strongest protections for abortion rights was passed this week by New York state lawmakers. 

The Reproductive Health Act codifies rights protected by Roe V. Wade, as well as, other abortion rulings in case they're overturned by the Supreme Court. Planned Parenthood Officials say they're thrilled because the legislation ensures that New Yorkers can have access for needed healthcare throughout the pregnancy.

Lawmakers said the Reproductive Health Act will further protect a woman's reproductive rights in New York.

On Wednesday night, just a day after the law was signed into existence, a group of people gathered in Rochester to talk about women's rights. People from Rochester NOW and Planned Parenthood of Western and Central New York spoke about a woman's right to access health care.

Long-stalled abortion bill passes New York Legislature

New York lawmakers Tuesday authorized the most sweeping set of protections to the state’s abortion laws in 49 years, raising emotions from advocates and opponents who descended on the state Capitol for most of the day.

The Reproductive Health Act, blocked for years when Republicans controlled the State Senate, easily passed both Democratic-controlled houses.

Neighborhood Health to share mobile unit, and reach more Buffalo schoolchildren

Neighborhood Health Center filed plans to spend $8,000 to launch a mobile health unit as an extension clinic. But in a unique twist, the organization isn’t starting something new, but instead using existing, excess capacity at a unit owned by another health provider.

The agency has been approved by federal officials at the Bureau of Primary Health Care to sub-lease an existing van owned by Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York, which it will use to provide primary care services to low-income children at nine Buffalo Public Schools.
