S'MORE Sex Education Camp Registration

Planned Parenthood will provide this camp at no cost to participants. We are committed to accessible sex education in our community.

Expectations
This is summer camp is a challenging leadership development program. Our camp follows a model called Reach One Teach One, which a peer education program. The key to the program is that campers learn sex ed and then practice sharing their new knowledge with peers and the community. That might look like starting a conversation with family members, piping up in a discussion in the community, or acting as a resource for others on their social media. We don’t expect every camper to leave this program as a public speaker, rather as someone who is willing to proactively broach sexual health topics using accurate information, especially when other teens and adults flounder.

As part of S'MORE, campers are expected to have 10 conversations about what they’re learning at camp over the course of the program. Though the camp has only 6 half-day in-person gatherings over 3 weeks, we think it is a full-size commitment. The program doesn’t end on the last day, instead there is an extra week for campers to complete their 10 conversations before a graduation ceremony where they receive a $100 Visa gift card for their important work.

While the time commitment this camp requires isn’t for everyone, we think that campers will find it well worth the effort. Campers learn life-long skills deeply by teaching others, practice leadership in their communities, and take responsibility to complete independent work. We especially encourage you to apply if you are brand new to sex ed, are shy, or are looking to meet other young people from across the cities.
