Transgender Hormone Therapy Basics

PPNYC offers quality, compassionate hormone therapy to our transgender and gender nonconforming patients using an Informed Consent Model.

How Do I Make an Appointment?

Please contact us at 212-965-7000 to schedule an appointment for an Initial Hormone Therapy visit. At this appointment, we will review your medical history, review the Informed Consent form, and draw lab tests. Depending on your medical history, we will either prescribe the hormones to you at your first visit or wait to prescribe the hormones until we get your lab results back.

If I'm Already on Hormones, Can I Transfer My Care to PPNYC?

Yes, you are able to transfer your hormone care to PPNYC. You will still have to make an appointment for an Initial Hormone Therapy visit so that we can go through our Informed Consent form with you. Also, please make sure to bring information about your current prescription and dosage to the Initial visit.

How Much Does It Cost?

We have billing staff ready to help you figure out costs and payments for this service for both insured and uninsured patients. If you would like to make an appointment with a Financial Counselor prior to your Initial visit, you can do so by calling 212-965-7000.

How Old Do I Have to Be to Get Hormones from PPNYC?

For our transgender hormone services, we see patients 18 and over. If you are under 18, we can refer you to other New York City providers who can give you hormonal care.

What Other Services Apart from Hormone Therapy Does PPNYC Offer to Our Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Patients?

All services we offer at PPNYC are available to patients of all genders. See “For Patients” to learn more about our wide range of services.
