I have private health insurance. Will my insurance pay for services at PPNYC?

PPNYC accepts most private insurance and participates in many managed care and qualified health plans. Call (212) 965-7000 or 1 (800) 230-PLAN to find out if we are in your health plan and what services are included in your coverage.  You can also click the following link and scroll down to the list of insurance plans we accept.

Do I need to get a referral from my primary care provider or health plan before coming to PPNYC?

No. New York State law says you are entitled to at least two visits annually to any family planning and reproductive health provider within the plan's network, without a referral from your primary care provider.  All necessary follow-up visits are also included. That means as long as PPNYC is in your health plan, you can come to PPNYC directly for covered family planning and GYN services without getting a referral.

I have Medicaid. Will it pay for services at PPNYC?

Yes. PPNYC accepts Medicaid for all of our services. Bring your Medicaid card to the visit.

I am enrolled in a Medicaid health plan. Can I come to PPNYC?

Yes. New York State law says you can go to any Medicaid provider in or out of the health plan for the GYN, family planning, and abortion services you need. Please see the list of those services below.  That means you can always come to PPNYC — it doesn't matter if PPNYC is in your Medicaid health plan or not. You don't need a referral from your regular doctor.

If PPNYC is not in your health plan or if your health plan does not cover the services you need, you can use your Medicaid card. Bring your health plan card and your Medicaid card to the visit. You will not be turned away.

What services does PPNYC provide if I am in a Medicaid health plan?

If you have Medicaid or Medicaid managed care, you can come to Planned Parenthood for:

Birth control pills, condoms, foams, diaphragms, IUDs, and Depo-Provera
 Abortion (medical and surgical)
Pelvic and breast exams, including Pap tests*
 Pregnancy testing and counseling
 Emergency contraception
Colposcopy, cryotherapy, and loop electrosurgical excision procedures (LEEP)*
 STD testing and treatment*
 HIV testing and counseling*
*when part of a family planning visit

I am enrolled in a Child Health Plus health plan. Can I come to PPNYC?

Yes. If you are enrolled in a Child Health Plus plan, you must use in-network plan providers only. If PPNYC is a provider in your plan’s network, you will be able to visit PPNYC for no charge. Please bring your health plan card to the visit. Call PPNYC at (212) 965-7000 or 1 (800) 230-PLAN to see if we accept your health plan for the services you need.

If we do not accept your health plan, you may still be able to come to PPNYC. For family planning services, our centers may be able to offer you a lower fee, depending on your income and the services that you need.

I don't have any health insurance. Will PPNYC still see me?

Yes. If you do not have health insurance, you can still come to PPNYC. We have Financial Counselors who will assist you to get public or private insurance or financial help for the services we offer.  If you are not able to obtain health insurance, our centers may still be able to offer you a lower fee.  Please see Financial Help to find out more.

How do I make an appointment?

You can book an appointment online for most services.  Find a health center in the "Book an Appointment" box at the top or bottom of this page and then book your appointment online.  If a service is not available online or if you have any questions, call us at 212-965-7000.
