PPNC's HIV outreach, prevention and care program facilitates comprehensive community outreach to ensure that people have access to care and can get tested to know their status.

Community Testing Events

Every day, PPNC's HIV team is out in the local community, providing on-site testing events on our mobile medical unit, the Plan Van.

W.O.M.E.N.

The mission of W.O.M.E.N. (Women's Outreach Motivation Education Network) is to motivate women to get tested for HIV and reduce the high transmission rate among women of color. Women have become the fastest growing population infected with the disease through unprotected heterosexual relationships. Moreover, women of color are disproportionately affected by AIDS and Nassau County has one of the nation's highest rates of the disease among suburban communities.

Peer-Based HIV Prevention

W.O.M.E.N. understands the issues that complicate one's risk factors; our goal is to join in the struggle to bring awareness and dialogue about sexually transmitted infections, the risk of men on the "down low," substance abuse, domestic violence, culture and psychosocial factors. WOMEN provides multi-lingual HIV/AIDS workshops by trained peer educators, which include inspirational stories about the different faces of this disease, and information on minimizing the risk of transmission.

WOMEN conducts outreach in the communities of Freeport, Roosevelt, Hempstead, Uniondale and Inwood. If requested, we also offer FREE and confidential on-site testing.
