Hempstead, NY— Planned Parenthood of Nassau County (PPNC) has been awarded an $8,000 Latino Community Investment Grant by Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Inc. to strengthen connections with and increase outreach to the Latino college community here in Nassau County.

PPNC is pleased to announce that it will be using this funding to underwrite education and outreach activities focused on sexual health, advocacy for reproductive health, and access to health care services. The activities, which will take place on-campus, will be conducted by Adelphi University’s Sigma Lambda Upsilon (SLU) sorority and Lambda Upsilon Lambda (LUL) fraternity.

“Both SLU and LUL are dedicated to uplifting traditionally marginalized groups, especially Latinos, by serving as a voice and means for empowerment,” says Giokazta Molina-Schneider, PPNC’s Director of Education. “Their knowledge of diverse communities and the college landscape, combined with a passion for health literacy make them ideal advocates for sexual health education and access in the Latino college community.”

Events will begin this fall on Adelphi’s campus and continue through the fall 2015 semester. For information about upcoming events contact 516-750-2650.
