Celebrate the season of giving by giving back.

Every day, we see the impact that your support has on the thousands of people we serve in our health centers and local communities. And when we hear stories like Torrie's, it reminds us that the impact ripples far beyond what you may imagine — for entire lifetimes.

Meet Torrie.

Torrie, pictured above, has been a part of the PPNC family since he was 14 years old, when he joined our Teen Advocate Project (TAP) program. Through TAP, Torrie worked in his high school as a peer educator to provide accurate information, dispel myths surrounding sexual and reproductive health, and inform his peers about the affordable, confidential and compassionate care they could access at PPNC.

Reflecting back on his time with TAP, Torrie remarked: “As a peer educator, I found it very fulfilling to help people and empower them to take care of their heath. My friends and classmates had so many questions and so much misinformation, and I was able to steer them in the right direction. This experience inspired me to pursue a career in nursing.

Today, as Torrie works toward his nursing degree at night, he is still helping people through PPNC. During the day, Torrie works as a Center Assistant at our Hempstead health center, where he is a first point of contact for patients when they visit. In this role, he helps create a warm, trusting atmosphere for community members, just as he did as a TAP teen.

Torrie sees his job at PPNC and his decision to become a nurse as “paying it forward.” Of course, it is only because of the ongoing generous support of donors like you that Torrie was able to begin on his path as an advocate and agent for healthy living.

As Torrie’s story demonstrates, investing in PPNC’s health services, education and advocacy programs pays dividends well into the future. In the spirit of the holiday season, we hope you will consider giving thanks by giving back.

Give back to the thousands of patients that depend upon PPNC.
