Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood Brings Awareness to Early Detection of Breast Cancer to Whatcom County For Second Year

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths among women in Washington. Planned Parenthood has long been in the business of cancer prevention.

(Bellingham, WA)—  For 41 years Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood has been a leading provider of early breast cancer detection services, providing over 200,000 screening exams to women in Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties. Planned Parenthoods are one of the largest providers of breast cancer screening in the country. 

 

Join Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood on October 3rd for it’s second breast cancer awareness 5K (3K option) walk to raise funds for Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood’s cancer early detection & prevention services.  Come at 1:00 pm for a FREE informational fair funded by a grant from Susan G. Komen For the Cure Puget Sound.  Listen to Joan Elvin-McAree, Co-Founder of the Ovarian and Breast Cancer Alliance of Washington and cancer survivor.  Sign up for free mammograms through Washington’s Breast and Cervical Health Program on site. The walk begins at 2:30 pm at the Depot Market Square in downtown Bellingham.    To learn more and to register, please visit: www.donate.mbpp.org.  Registration fee for the walk is $20. The Informational Fair starting at 1:00 pm is free to the public.

 

Regular breast screenings are the best way for women to lower their risk of dying from breast cancer. Screening tests can detect breast cancer early when it's most treatable.

Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood has proudly been providing healthcare services for women, men, and teenagers in communities throughout Whatcom, Skagit, and San Juan Counties since 1969.
