Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood Brings Awareness to Early Detection of Breast Cancer to Whatcom County

Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer related deaths among women in Washington. Planned Parenthood has long been in the business of cancer prevention.
Planned Parenthood has long been in the business of cancer prevention. For 40 years Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood has been a leading provider of early breast cancer detection services, providing over 200,000 screening exams to women in Whatcom, Skagit and San Juan Counties. Planned Parenthoods are one of the largest providers of breast cancer screening in the country.
Join Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood on October 4th for a breast cancer awareness 5K (3K option) walk to raise funds for Mt. Baker Planned Parenthood’s cancer early detection & prevention services. The walk begins at 1pm at the Depot Market Square in downtown Bellingham. Following the walk, stay for a FREE informational fair funded by a grant from Susan G. Komen For the Cure Puget Sound. Dr. Cary Kaufman, breast cancer specialist and owner of Bellingham Breast Center, the first accredited breast center in Washington State, will join us to discuss breast cancer issues as well answer questions from participants. Regular breast screenings are the best way for women to lower their risk of dying from breast cancer. Screening tests can detect breast cancer early when it's most treatable.
