Preparing for Your Visit
Thank you for choosing Planned Parenthood of Montana as your health care provider.
For all visits:
- Please bring your photo ID, insurance card, co-pay, and policyholder information (including full name and date of birth.) If you have a separate prescription coverage card, please also bring it to the visit.
- We accept cash, check, debit, and most major credit cards. If you have a balance on your account, you may pay your bill online. You may also qualify for a payment plan.
- If you are not using insurance, payment will be due at the time of service.
- If you wish to apply for Plan First, a special program in Montana that pays for reproductive healthcare for eligible women, please bring the following: 1.) income verification, 2.) driver's license or other government-issued ID AND birth certificate, or your passport, and 3.) your social security card.
- You may print and fill out your patient forms ahead of time and bring them with you to your appointment. Patient forms can be found here.
- Any children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and cannot be left unaccompanied.
- Today’s visit may be conducted via video visit and is similar to face-time or Skype. We make this service available to allow our patients to be seen quickly and provide the service they are seeking. In the future, if you need a visit that requires an exam, we will schedule you at a time a clinician is in the health center.
Special considerations based on appointment type:
Annual Exam
- For best pap results, do not douche or place anything in the vagina 24 hours before the appointment. If you use the Nuvaring, you can continue using this as normal.
- If you have your menstrual cycle and are spotting or bleeding lightly, we can continue with your appointment. Otherwise, please reschedule your appointment for another time.
- If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
Implant Insertion
- If you are not using hormonal birth control, we recommend you abstain from vaginal intercourse for 14 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, please continue taking it normally.
- If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
Intrauterine Contraception: Mirena, Skyla or Paragard (Also known as IUC or IUD)
- If you are not using hormonal birth control, you must abstain from vaginal intercourse for 14 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, please continue taking it normally.
- Please eat something and take 800mg of ibuprofen one hour prior to your appointment.
- If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.
Morning After Pill (Emergency Contraception)
- If you are 17 or older, you may pick up emergency contraception with no appointment over the counter in the health center with a valid ID. Cost is $50.
- If you are under 17, you must be seen by a healthcare provider to obtain a prescription.
- Inquire about walk-in availability at our front desk.
Sexually Transmitted Infection Testing (With or Without Symptoms)
- A full screening includes tests for the most common Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), including: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV. A urine based test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea should be done two weeks after possible exposure. Blood testing for Syphilis should be done 30 days after possible exposure, and blood testing for HIV should be done 90 days after possible exposure. Blood testing incurs an additional lab fee of $20.
- We also offer rapid HIV testing which is done through a mouth swab.
- For most accurate urine testing, please do not urinate for one hour before your visit. In preparation of the rapid HIV mouth swab, please do not eat anything (including gum) or drink anything for 30 minutes before your appointment.
- Female patients: If you are showing symptoms, do not douche or place anything in your vagina for 24 hours prior to the appointment.
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
For most accurate testing, please try to not urinate for one hour before your visit.
