“We’re taking action – so we can become even stronger for the people we care for, today and into the future.”
St. Paul, MN – May 22, 2018 – Today, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) announced it will join forces with Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, which serves Iowa and Nebraska, to form one 5-state regional affiliate: Planned Parenthood North Central States.*
“We’re taking action – so we can become even stronger for the people we care for, today and into the future,” said Sarah Stoesz, President and CEO of PPMNS, who will serve as President and CEO of the newly formed affiliate. “With this new consolidation, we will sustain and grow the number of people we serve in our clinics, while strengthening our regional political power and local leadership in all five states.”
Planned Parenthood North Central States* will operate 29 clinics in four states serving more than 114,000 patients annually. Education programs in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and North Dakota will provide accurate information about sex, sexuality and healthy behaviors to more than 99,000 adults and young people in communities in the region, including culturally-specific education programs. The organization will also to continue to grow advocacy and grassroots support for health care, sex education, birth control and safe, legal abortion across the five states.
“We are not standing by as crucial women’s health care services are threatened, including the newest attack on federal family planning funding. Instead, we are joining arms with our neighbors and standing strong together for the people who turn to us for the health care they need,” continued Stoesz. “Planned Parenthood has been around for more than a century. This is about building an even stronger Planned Parenthood presence in our region so that we will thrive for the next 100 years.”
