Ready or Hot: Fashion Meets Passion for Planned Parenthood

International Market Square
275 Market Street
Minneapolis, MN, 55405

Tickets ranging from $30 for an individual to $2,000 for a private table.

Ready or Hot, a celebration of body positivity, accessible health care and fashion in support of Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) returns to International Market Square on Thursday, February 21 from 7 until 10 p.m.

This is no ordinary fashion show. Ready or Hot is a rallying cry for social justice and accessible health care for people of all ages, genders, and races. Featuring gorgeous body-positive styles that honor all shapes and sizes, this is a radically-inclusive fashion show for the future.

Hosted by Grant Whittaker and Allison Kaplan, the runway show highlights the hottest looks from Twin Cities retailers, modeled by 46 dedicated and diverse Planned Parenthood supporters.

In addition to incredible and diverse styles gracing the catwalk, Ready or Hot attendees enjoy hor d'oeuvres, desserts, and cocktails. The couture-curious can also shop the Planned Parenthood Boutique, the event’s immensely popular pop-up shops featuring clothing, jewelry, and other accessories from local retailers and artisans.

Proceeds from sales at the Planned Parenthood Boutique help the organization provide expert reproductive health care and comprehensive sex education throughout Minnesota.

Founded in 2014, Ready or Hot is an evening designed to both entertain guests and raise awareness of Planned Parenthood’s mission.

Now coming into its sixth year, the event is known for showcasing unique and body-positive looks. Through its diversity of styles and models, Ready or Hot celebrates the community by featuring a variety of shapes, sizes, cultures, gender identities and expressions. The event is not only a place to find some of the hottest styles in the Twin Cities, but it’s also the most inclusive and representative fashion show around.

The show is also known for its bold statements and fashion-forward styles. In 2014 Planned Parenthood featured condom couture for the first time. The dresses at first do not appear unusual, but take a closer look, and what appears to be tassels, texture or lace are condoms made into a gorgeous designer outfit. This year, condom outfits are proudly created by a fashion design team from the University of Minnesota, including students Maxine Britt, Ian Harris, Madelyn KenKnight, Abigail Talapa, and Darunee Thao.

Every year, Ready or Hot also features high-profile guests who appear throughout the evening and in the fashion show, including The Voice semi-finalist Kat Perkins; the Broder brothers (Charlie, Danny, and Thomas); fashion designer Lindsey Hopkins; Project Runway alumni Danielle Everine and Samantha Rei; Richard Moody, event producer and stylist extraordinaire; and Sandy Simmons, Fashion Group International-Minneapolis St. Paul director; Erinn Farrell, Liz Giel, Bethany Iverson and Alex West Steinman, co-founders of The Coven; Arwyn Birch and Teresa Fox of Glam Doll Donuts; Jayne Haugen Olson, editor in chief of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine; Allison Kaplan, editor of Twin Cities Business magazine and show co-host, as well as Grant Whittaker, producer, creative director and host of Ready or Hot.

Ready or Hot would not happen without the inimitable creative team.
