PPMNS providers are trained in a unique, industry-leading method of contraception counseling, designed to increase the effectiveness of contraception through increased Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptives (LARC) utilization and adherence. We also train at least 15 residents from the University of Minnesota each year (9 OB/GYN and 6 family medicine) in reproductive and sexual health care, as well as APNs from the University of Minnesota (10 were trained in 2015.)

Leaders in Health Care Delivery

As a health care CEO, Ms. Stoesz has prioritized developing ground-breaking strategies to make sure women of all incomes have access to the reproductive and contraceptive care they need. Patients can pick up their birth control at their visit and receive refills via mail from our centralized refill center. Most clinics offer same and next-day availability and many offer evening and weekend hours. Patients can walk-in for emergency contraception and other services and we offer online video visits for contraception, STD screening, emergency contraception, UTI treatment and LARC counseling. Our online health services accept commercial insurance, self-pay, and Medicaid (MN only.) Online Appointment Scheduling allows our patients to make appointments in real-time for most services. Our patient portal allows patients to access lab results, medical records, bill pay, and refills online.

Protecting Access to the Care Minnesotans Need

The combination of health care provider and health care advocate has made Planned Parenthood a cornerstone for women’s health in our country – and PPMNS is no different.  In addition to her commitment to improving patient access and care through innovative business strategies, Ms. Stoesz is a seasoned political advocate who successfully champions laws and policies that protect and promote women’s health throughout our region. She has led PPMNS to several political victories including defeating ballot initiatives to ban abortion and restrict access to basic care like contraception in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Excellence in Education and Outreach

Ms. Stoesz is also deeply committed to educating young people and adults about reproductive and sexual health in order to reduce the numbers of unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) throughout the region.  In addition to the 64,000 patients served each year by Planned Parenthood expert reproductive health clinicians, PPMNS’ Education and Outreach team educates more than 41,000 Minnesotans and North Dakotans through our culturally specific and comprehensive education programs each year.

PPMNS’ reach in our community continues to garner results.  Rates of both teen pregnancies and unintended pregnancies across the region have reached historic lows, thanks in part to advances in sex education, birth control, and health care access. Research has even shown that teen girls with a Planned Parenthood clinic in their community are less likely to drop out of high school.

For more than 85 years, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota has worked in our region to make sure all people have the information and the means to make free and responsible decisions about whether and when to have children.  Planned Parenthood operates 19 clinics in Minnesota and South Dakota and an Online Health Center, providing quality and affordable family planning, reproductive health care services and education to nearly 64,000  women and men each year.
