Reproductive Health Care CEUs

Continuing Education Units

Our nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and doctors are among the best-trained and most experienced experts in reproductive and sexual health care, and we are pleased to offer continuing education seminars with CEUs available on a variety of reproductive health topics.

Contraception for Patients with Medical Issues

Contraception for Patients with Medical Issues will be offered on August 8, 2017 from 6 until 7 p.m. and August 12, 2017 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota’s Vandalia Clinic and Administrative Offices, located at 671 Vandalia Street in St. Paul.

The course will be led by Dr. Christy Boraas, MD MPH, an Associate Medical Director and Director of Research at Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota. She provides clinical care at the Vandalia Health Center in St. Paul, Minnesota and as the Director of Research, she develops and oversees the research program conducted at health center sites all across the affiliate.

Dr. Boraas graduated from the University of Minnesota Schools of Medicine and Public Health with degrees in medicine and epidemiology, completed residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The Ohio State University, and fellowship in family planning and clinical research at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research interests include increasing access and patient-centered uptake of family planning services, including abortion care, global reproductive health care, and medical education.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand access and use of the US MEC and SPR

  • Utilize resources to apply guidelines to counsel patients regarding contraception with: certain cardiovascular, hematologic and metabolic disorders as well as STIs

  • Practice application of the guidelines using examples from everyday clinical care
