GRAND RAPIDS – As part of a plan to consolidate Planned Parenthood of Michigan’s (PPMI) health services in the Grand Rapids area, PPMI announced today that the Evenson Health Center, located at 3641 Byron Center Ave. SW, in Wyoming, will close on March 1, 2017.

PPMI’s Grand Rapids location, the Irwin/Martin Health Center, located just seven miles away at 425 Cherry St., SE, underwent a $2 million renovation in 2015, doubling the number of exam rooms in anticipation of the increased patient traffic due to the consolidation. This energy-efficient redesigned space includes a large Education Center, which allows for expanded educational programs and special events, in addition to improved patient spaces.

“We feel confident that this consolidation represents the best use of our resources,” said Lori Carpentier, PPMI’s president and CEO. “We understand that it may not be quite as convenient for some who are used to coming to the Wyoming location, but we hope that inconvenience will be offset by the improved patient experience in the upgraded Irwin/Martin health center.”

Patients of the Evenson Center are able to visit the Irwin/Martin Center, or any other Planned Parenthood of Michigan location, as their records are available across the system. They can call (616) 459-3101 to make an appointment in Grand Rapids, or to request a records transfer to another health provider.
