About the Retreat
This retreat will provide an intensive opportunity for parents and sons (ages 12 to 17) to come together for a healthy and constructive dialogue regarding issues related to sex and sexuality.
Individual and combined workshops will teach, challenge and explore the importance of effective communication regarding this important topic in the lives of parents and sons. A keynote speaker will open and close the retreat bringing interactive and lively messages to the audience regarding communicating family values, how to have difficult conversations, understanding human behavior regarding sexuality, etc.
Let’s Talk About Sex (Parents)
A workshop designed to assist parents with understanding and acknowledging their son’s natural curiosity about sex and sexuality, the importance of communicating and maintaining an open dialogue; how to answer topic related questions or find the answers to questions you don’t know and addressing their own concerns regarding their son’s sexuality.
Let’s Talk About Sex (Sons)
A workshop designed to assist sons to recognize their parents as resources for information regarding sex and sexuality; provide useful communication techniques to instruct sons on how to approach parent; the importance of self esteem and values clarification in the decision making process.
An interactive workshop designed for parents and sons together that provides an overview of basic reproductive anatomy, puberty, STI/HIV Awareness, while encouraging abstinence, delaying sex , dating violence, avoiding teen pregnancy and the importance of healthy relationships.
