Daily Show Co-Creator Lizz Winstead's Comedy Tour for Planned Parenthood
For Immediate Release: Jan. 30, 2014
(July 18th, Brookline) - A political satirist, Winstead delivered a solid performance tonight at the Coolidge Corner Theater to a crowd of more than 300 who came out to show their support for Planned Parenthood and get some good laughs along the way.
Winstead was inspired to develop the tour by her long-standing support of Planned Parenthood’s work. Brookline is the fourth stop on a tour that continues to add more shows in cities across the country. All proceeds are going to benefit local Planned Parenthood health affiliates.
“Women’s health has become the number one focus of the radical right – even worse, it has been reduced to a bargaining chip,” said Winstead. “I say enough is enough, and so should anyone who has relied on Planned Parenthood for basic health care, or knows someone who has. Planned Parenthood has been there for me in every facet of my reproductive health, and now I want to be there for them.”
"We haven't had much to laugh about during these attacks on Planned Parenthood, so I welcome the chance to have Lizz put her humorous - yet personal - spin on the current political climate," said Tricia Wajda, PPLM's Public Affairs Directors. "We are very grateful to Lizz for supporting our services and standing with Planned Parenthood."
