Appearance to Benefit Planned Parenthood of Maryland

Co-creator of The Daily Show and co-founder of Air America Radio, political satirist Lizz Winstead brings her razor-sharp wit and hilarious spin on current events to the Frederick Cultural Arts Center on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 8pm. The event is part of her “Planned Parenthood, I’m Here for You!” summer tour; all proceeds will go to support the work of Planned Parenthood of Maryland.

Winstead was inspired to develop the tour by her long-standing support of Planned Parenthood.

“Women’s health has become the number one focus of the radical right – even worse, it has been reduced to a bargaining chip,” said Winstead. “I say enough is enough, and so should anyone who has relied on Planned Parenthood for basic health care, or knows someone who has. Planned Parenthood has been there for me in every facet of my reproductive health, and now I want to be there for them.”

Tickets for the Frederick event are $35 each, VIP tickets are $100 and include an exclusive Q & A with Lizz at 7pm, as well as entry to the main event. Tickets are available at www.plannedparenthood.org/maryland or by calling 410-576-2150. Discount tickets ($20) are available for clients and must be purchased at the Frederick Health Center: 170 Thomas Johnson Drive, Suite 100, Frederick, MD.

“We are thrilled to see Lizz’s energy and sense of fun going to support our work, and we’re looking forward to a much-needed dose of humor and sanity on the 19th” said Director of Development Marlo Jacobson.

Winstead added, “If creating jobs is the number one priority for politicians in this country, why are they so focused on my uterus? My uterus doesn't create jobs, in fact it no longer even does the one job it's supposed to!”

The “Planned Parenthood, I’m Here for You!” tour kicked off July 9 in Pontiac, MI, and travels to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Boston, and Philadelphia, as well as Frederick, MD, New York City, Anchorage, Seattle, and Manchester, NH. Throughout July and with shows in August, September, and October, Winstead is visiting ten cities in nine states, with all proceeds going to benefit local Planned Parenthood affiliates.
