For Immediate Release: June 6, 2022 (Updated: June 6, 2022, 5:39 p.m.)
[Warminster, PA] — Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKeystone) now offers support for LGBTQ+ youth, ages 10-14 years old, through its new program, Roy G. Biv.
“We are thrilled to begin Pride Month with the launch of our new program, Roy G. Biv. Roy G. Biv offers a safe and supportive space for LGBTQ+ youth ages 10-14 years old in Bucks County. Now, more than ever, LGBTQ+ youth need to feel validated for who they are. As anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment continues to grow, Planned Parenthood Keystone is fighting back by expanding our educational programming and giving youth the platform to be seen and heard,” stated Melissa Reed, President and CEO.
Weekly programming will be provided by Rae Davis, Community Health Educator. “Roy G. Biv represents, to me, what I was searching for as a youth who was not given the tools or opportunity to understand my identity and connect with others, while also being able to play and still be a child. As part of the Planned Parenthood Keystone family, I am thrilled at the chance to provide such services, with the resources of Planned Parenthood behind me, to further enrich the lives of LGBTQ+ kiddos. I believe this work can and will save lives and it is an honor to have a part in that.”
Meetings are held weekly on Thursday evenings at the Rainbow Room, 186 East Court Street in Doylestown. A priority of the program is to offer youth a space to be themselves, learn about queer history, and validate the identities of LGBTQ+ youth. Roy G. Biv offers support, group discussions, arts and crafts, and sex education. For more information, visit Roy G. Biv’s Instagram @roy.g.biv.doylestown_ or email Rae at [email protected].
As part of the most trusted provider of sexual and reproductive healthcare, Planned Parenthood Keystone’s vision is to provide non-judgmental, inclusive, evidence-based health care, support, and sex education to transgender, gender non-conforming and non-binary individuals, and to empower them on their journey in becoming the healthiest, most authentic version of themselves.
