For Immediate Release: July 19, 2021 (Updated: July 19, 2021, 8:46 p.m.)
Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKeystone) is proud to receive the news that its President & CEO, Melissa Reed, was named to City and State Pennsylvania’s Healthcare Power 100 List.
Having just hit her five-year anniversary with the affiliate, Ms. Reed joined PPKeystone late in June of 2016 after spending several years as the Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic, the political arm of Planned Parenthood that serves WV, NC, SC and parts of VA. Ms. Reed oversees PPKeystone’s nine health centers, which serve 22,000 patients annually through the 37-county geography that PPKeystone serves.
As President & CEO, Reed has facilitated PPKeystone teams’ many innovations in services and the delivery of care at the Central and Eastern PA affiliate including the expansion of abortion care in PPKeystone’s affiliate territory and a notably fast paced launch of telehealth services less than a month after the start of the statewide COVID-19 lockdowns in early 2020.
“On behalf of all those who have the honor of working with Melissa, I want to share how absolutely deserving she is of this recognition.
She has successfully expanded healthcare access to our patients every year since she joined Planned Parenthood Keystone. She has overseen the launch of exciting new services and the implementation of cutting-edge technological delivery systems. She has been a voice for our mostly rural counties on the national level, ensuring funding for the expansion of critical programs. She has fought tirelessly against political attacks on reproductive health care and made it possible for our staff to provide vital care in the midst a global pandemic. As she led us through the last five years, she has truly been the embodiment of our motto: Care. No matter what.” stated Melanie Stone, MD, Board Certified OBGYN and Board Chair of Planned Parenthood Keystone.
“I am deeply honored and thrilled to be named to the Healthcare Power 100 list, which validates the work my team and I are doing to provide compassionate sexual and reproductive health care for Central and Eastern PA. I will continue to fight for expanded abortion care and quality sex education in the Commonwealth – ensuring that anyone who needs care can access it without fear of judgement.” stated Reed.
