[Warminster, PA] — Planned Parenthood Keystone (PPKeystone) announced today that it is the recipient of a $7.5 million dollar donation. This historic gift is part of MacKenzie Scott’s unprecedented $275 million dollar donation to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the national office, and 20 Planned Parenthood affiliates. This represents the largest gift from a single donor in Planned Parenthood’s history and the largest gift ever for Planned Parenthood Keystone. Planned Parenthood Keystone is an affiliate of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, a trusted provider of equitable sexual and reproductive health services. This generous gift comes at a time when access to sexual and reproductive health care is under attack like never before, especially access to abortion.
“We are over the moon about this course-changing and transformative gift. We are eternally grateful to MacKenzie Scott for her deep commitment to sexual and reproductive health. Her historic donation comes as we face the most serious attacks on abortion and sexual health care here in Pennsylvania and across the nation. PPKeystone is committed to using these resources to meet the moment and ensure our patients continue to receive the equitable, expert, and compassionate health care they deserve.
This gift will eliminate major barriers to care and increase access throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. For example, we plan to grow our Fund for Choice and increase financial assistance to patients seeking abortion and reproductive care at PPKeystone. And, the gift will empower us to use emerging technology and advances in medicine to provide care more equitably,” stated Melissa Reed, President and CEO of PPKeystone.
Last year was the worst year for abortion rights since Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973; more than 100 abortion restrictions were enacted across the country, including 5 anti-abortion bills in Pennsylvania. Simultaneously, the Supreme Court also turned its back on long-established constitutional rights, allowing the Texas abortion ban to stand for more than six months, and is considering a Mississippi abortion ban that could overturn Roe by this summer.
Planned Parenthood Keystone provides care to over 26,000 patients annually and has nine health centers throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania. PPKeystone proudly provides the full range of sexual and reproductive health care and sex education. In addition to services and programming in its centers, services are also available via telehealth and mobile app (PPDirect). For more information, visit ppkeystone.org .
