Chris Charbonneau, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky (PPINK), statement on the passing of Betty Cockrum:
INDIANAPOLIS – Betty Cockrum, former CEO at Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, (2002-2017) has passed away. The statement below is attributable to Chris Charbonneau, CEO of PPINK:
“It is with great sadness that I share the news of Betty’s passing. Betty was unwavering in her commitment to reproductive rights, was a trailblazer, and a proven leader to all people across Indiana and Kentucky. She was a true force of nature as she championed abortion access for decades, and her leadership continued even after she retired from Planned Parenthood. During her time at Planned Parenthood, Betty was persistent and never intimidated as she forged ahead in the fight to ensure that everybody regardless of income or zip code has access to affordable, expert reproductive health care. Our hearts are with all of Betty’s family during this time. The entire Planned Parenthood family mourns the loss of this indefatigable woman.”
