We are a health care organization, and we support choice and bodily autonomy.
We believe everyone should be safe and free in their own body.
This is why Planned Parenthood stands with The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL).

As a critical part of the public health infrastructure, Planned Parenthood understands the importance of community-driven solutions, and each community is different. Some of the principles of M4BL are to end:

  • The war on Black communities

  • End the war on Black women

  • The war on Black trans, gender nonconforming and intersex people

  • End pretrial detention and money bail

  • End the war on Black health and Black disabled people

  • End the war on Black migrants

The failure of our society not openly and unapologetically condemning the racist policies that continue to allow our justice system to over-police, over-incarcerate, and kill Black people right before our eyes has caused and continues to cause painful suffering for communities across the U.S.

Law Enforcement officers, who swore an oath to serve and protect our communities, are responsible for the brutal deaths of Breona Taylor, George Floyd, David McAtee, Tony McDade, Manuel Ellis, Rayshard Brooks, and so many more, and the systemic racism that permeates every aspect of the criminal justice system means that most of the victims and their families are denied justice. This can’t continue.

This moment is calling for us to not just be great partners in our words but in our actions, as well. As we grow wiser in these moments, we commit to use our power, privilege and position as public health leaders to stand with and for Black people, and to keep providing care—no matter what.

Please take a moment to review Chris Charbonneau’s statement of accountability on how Planned Parenthood, like many white-led feminist organizations, has failed racial equity and justice for BIPOC in the past, and what we are doing to evolve and do better.
And please donate to support racial equity and Black-led mutual aid.
