In April, 2016, Linda Diamond Shapiro was appointed to serve as the Interim CEO of Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL). Previously she was PPIL’s Vice President for Strategy & Planning, a role she assumed after serving on the PPIL board of directors for several years.
Formerly, Linda was the chief strategy officer for the Cook County Health and Hospitals System. For the better part of two decades, she championed the growth of Access Community Health Network from a small network of unprofitable health centers into a viable enterprise with over 40 health center locations.
In earlier years, Linda served in the president’s office at University of Chicago Medicine and as executive director of Health and Medicine Policy Research Group in Chicago. In the 1980s, she held policy development positions at the American Medical Association in Chicago and Washington DC.
Linda serves on several local community boards including Youth Outreach Services and Health and Disability Advocates. A long time Chicago resident, Linda is a graduate of the University of Chicago where she received her bachelor’s degree from the College as well as masters degrees from both the School of Social Service Administration and the Booth Graduate School of Business.
