Statement on Women's March
For Immediate Release: Jan. 17, 2019
Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic (PPHP) unequivocally denounces all forms of discrimination and hatred including racism, anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, transphobia, sexism, xenophobia, and ableism. We are committed to calling out these forms of bigotry both within and outside our movement.
Over the last two years, the Women’s March has become a symbol of our collective resistance and for policies that advance systemic change for our most vulnerable. Our communities deserve access to health care and sexual and reproductive rights. They also deserve economic justice, safety for themselves and their families, and freedom from hatred and bigotry.
We understand movement building as a complex, evolving process that requires supreme patience, love, passion, and a commitment to growth both personal and institutional. Even as we see progress, our work continues, and our greatest hope against injustice is our commitment to stand in unity.
We are committed to building a more just New York, working in collaboration with the many inspiring partners who have been invested in this work for so long, and amplifying the needs of the most marginalized members of our communities. It will take all of us, working together, to create and sustain the city our communities need to flourish.
PPHP is not sponsoring any one march or rally this year. As always, we encourage all members of the community to make their voices heard at this critical moment in time.
