On Saturday, June 3, 2023, Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic (PPHP) will host Making Waves: PPHP’s Hamptons Benefit in East Hampton, NY. For the first time, the event will feature original condom wrapper art by leading artists, including Scott Bluedorn, Idoline Duke, Melinda Hackett, Marilyn Minter, Cindy Sherman, Lucy Winton, and Almond Zigmund. Select pieces will be available for auction. All proceeds from the event will benefit PPHP’s health care services, education programs, and advocacy efforts.

“We are honored that such incredible artists have donated their time and talents to PPHP,” said Vincent Russell, President & CEO of PPHP. “Art is one of the most powerful forms of activism. This extra dose of creativity will make this a special year for our annual Hamptons Benefit.”

“We need to do everything we can to help Planned Parenthood in helping individuals maintain at least some measure of control over their bodies,” said Cindy Sherman, one of the contributing artists.

The seven custom condom wrapper designs each reflect the individual styles of the artists. The pieces evoke themes of intimacy, conception, and freedom. All guests will receive condoms in the custom wrappers.

Additionally, the event will honor Robin Chandler Duke, who will posthumously receive the Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Legacy Award for her demonstrated commitment to access to sexual and reproductive health care and empowering individuals to determine their own sexual health and reproductive futures. Her family, including her son, Biddle Duke, daughter, Tish Lynn, and granddaughter Maggie Valiunas, will accept the award on her behalf.

In addition to enjoying the condom wrapper artwork, event guests will enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres, as well as bowling and arcade games.
