Empower Gala to Support Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic
For Immediate Release: Sept. 13, 2016
Join Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic (PPHP) as it honors Jane Orans (Larchmont) and the Westchester Women’s Agenda at its annual Empower Gala on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Hilton Westchester in Rye Brook. The gala will feature Keynote Speaker Wendy Davis, the former Texas State Senator who led a 13-hour filibuster against HB2, a harmful and extreme abortion bill, in 2013. The event co-chairs are Susan Chatzky (Briarcliff Manor), Tobi Klarnet (Ossining), and Denise Lipson (Upper Grandview).
Jane Orans, a 14-year veteran of the Mamaroneck School Board, has always been passionate about the well-being of children and became involved with Planned Parenthood of Westchester (now known as PPHP) at her husband Jerry’s encouragement. She continues to support PPHP because she knows it is an organization with caring and compassionate staff who understand women, their health care, and the educational needs of the community.
The Westchester Women’s Agenda (WWA) is a feminist organization that advocates on behalf of the women of Westchester County. It works to ensure that the social and economic climate in the county affords women equal access to every opportunity. Its membership represents more than 50 individuals and organizations serving tens of thousands of residents each year. PPHP is proud to be a member of the WWA and has worked in collaboration on many projects with the organization over the years.
The evening will feature a silent auction, a live service auction, and an opportunity for guests to purchase exclusive, limited-edition, signed, and numbered prints of contemporary artist Mary Heilmann’s work, Sunset Beach. Proceeds from the evening will ensure that women, men, and young adults will continue to have access to health care and accurate information that they need and deserve, regardless of their income, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, religion, ethnicity, or race.
Individual tickets, sponsorship packages, and virtual journal ads are available. For more information, please visit www.pphp.org/Empower2016 or contact Durrie Golding at (914) 467-7337 or [email protected].
