Tuesday, Oct. 23 (DES MOINES, IA) – It was another recording-breaking year for the Planned Parenthood Fall Book Sale. Attendance hit a record high, with more than 8,000 shoppers traveling to the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the five-day sale. Bargain hunters from across the Midwest picked through more than 600,000 new and used books, collectibles, puzzles, games and more.

The sale raised a total of $204,227.93 for Planned Parenthood education and community outreach programs.

Last year our education department worked with more than 56,000 young people and adults, offering age-appropriate and research-based programs in reproductive health, human development and sexuality education. We provided more than 3,400 programs to participants in a variety of settings across the Heartland.

The PPHeartland Education Department also includes three Education Resource Centers in Des Moines, Lincoln and Omaha.

The 2013 Spring Book Sale will be held April 18-22.
