What is being offered?

Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast (PPGC) is offering Hurricane Harvey Patient Relief Fund vouchers that can be exchanged for up to $300 worth of urgent family planning services provided at our health centers.

The vouchers cover:

  • “Problem” visits including but not limited to infections, such as UTIs (urinary tract infections), STIs (sexually transmitted infections), yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, etc.;
  • Pelvic pain; bleeding; breast lump/mass; and testing and treatment for abnormal Pap tests;
  • Emergency contraception (also known as the morning after pill and back up birth control);
  • HOPE visits (Hormonal Options without Pelvic Exams) for patients who do not have access to their preferred birth control method

Abortion is not covered by this program.

Who is eligible for the program?

The program is focused on those who have been heavily impacted by the storm and associated flooding.

PPGC is offering the program directly to people who have been impacted by Harvey, as well as through other non-profit groups, community institutions, or government organizations that have identified and are offering services to disaster victims who have been displaced.

A person is eligible regardless of immigration status.

A person is eligible for this program regardless if they have or do not have insurance or other coverage.

The person using the voucher does not have to be an existing PPGC patient.   A minor (person under 18 years of age) can use the vouchers to access covered services in accordance with state laws and regulations.

We are NOT offering free services to the general public.  While nearly all residents of the PPGC service area have been affected in some way by Hurricane Harvey, this program is targeted to provide assistance to those who are currently displaced from their homes or have lost their medication or means to obtain health care services.  This program does NOT offer a routine waiver of a patient’s financial responsibility for all PPGC patients.

How does the program work?

Once an individual has a voucher they should call 1-800-230-7526 to make an appointment at any PPGC health center. They should tell the representative they have a Hurricane Harvey Patient Relief Fund voucher.

The voucher will cover up to $300 for certain services provided at any PPGC health center. See list of covered services under “What is being offered?” question above.

The voucher can only be used once and is not transferable to another person.

The name on the voucher has to match the form of identification shown at the health center.  We accept multiple forms of identification.

The voucher has no cash redemption value and cannot be exchanged for cash.  The voucher expires on December 31, 2017.

Where can I get a voucher?

The Hurricane Harvey Patient Relief Fund coordinator is partnering with local government and community organizations that are providing service to people impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  The coordinator and the partner organizations are distributing vouchers at various locations to individuals who are in need of urgent care for services that are covered by the voucher (see list of services under “What is being offered?”).

The Hurricane Harvey Patient Relief Fund Coordinator can be reached at (713) 831-6589.

What if I don’t have a voucher? Can I still get services if I was impacted by Harvey?

Please call the Hurricane Harvey Patient Relief Fund program coordinator at (713) 831-6589 to find out where you can obtain a voucher.

How long is the program running?

The program will end on December 31, 2017. The vouchers will expire on that date and cannot be exchanged for services after December 31, 2017.
