The Promotores de salud, also known as promotoras, is the Spanish term for “community health workers”. The Hispanic community recognizes promotores de salud as lay health workers who work in Spanish-speaking communities. PPGC’s Promotora Program was established in 2001 and serves over 3,000 people annually. The Promotora Program is committed to serving the Hispanic/Latinx communities by offering community based medically accurate, age appropriate and culturally sensitive sexual and reproductive health education. PPGC’s Promotoras are an intricate and trusted member of their community.
